Case Study: Hickory Tavern

Challenge

Charlotte-based casual dining restaurant Hickory Tavern was a finalist in ESPN’s “Best Wings in North America” contest. The restaurant was one of 12 contenders, competing against representatives from Toronto, Philadelphia, New Orleans and other major cities. Hickory Tavern’s goal was simple: Get out the vote.

Solution

Media Emerging launched a publicity campaign to get out the vote, including traditional media outreach and a major social media campaign. Charlotte’s most influential social media users joined the campaign, generating over 200 mentions on Facebook and Twitter with a reach of more than 1.5 million followers. The campaign generated television, print and blog coverage of Hickory Tavern’s bid for the title, too.

Results

Hickory Tavern took second place in ESPN’s “Best Wings in North America,” surpassing 10 major cities for the honor.
