The Carolina Panthers needed an innovative sponsor event that combined the power of sports marketing and sponsorship with the interactive potential of social media.
Solution
Media Emerging created the Panthers Purrsuit, a one-day, citywide social media scavenger hunt. Fans compete against one another as they race around Charlotte, deciphering clues and visiting sponsor businesses, all while sharing their photos, videos and more via Facebook and Twitter.
Results
In year one, the Panthers Purrsuit led to seven of the team’s corporate sponsors being trending topics on Twitter in Charlotte. Contestants generated more than 4,500 mentions of Panthers partners on social media sites with a reach of more than 2.5 million users. In its second year, the Purrsuit broke new ground again as a case study in how to use QR Codes effectively.
