My Social Media To-Do List

Social_media

Here, in no particular order, are the things I want to accomplish/have accomplished with social media on behalf of PRstore. Which of these have you done for your company? Which do you want to accomplish?

  • Build brand awareness
  • Promote PRstore-generated content (blogs, press releases, articles, etc.)
  • Connect with journalists
  • Get press opportunities for PRstore clients
  • Get press coverage for PRstore
  • Find opportunities to educate myself about the latest marketing trends
  • Recruit highly qualified employees
  • Connect with potential PRstore franchisees
  • Form partnerships with third parties
  • Generate leads for PRstore franchise owners
  • Gain knowledge
  • Bump criticism of our company off the front page of Google search results
  • Boost PRstore.com higher in the search results for “small business marketing” and other keywords
  • Be a valuable resource to external audiences (customers, other businesses, reporters, industry peers, etc.)
  • Optimize this blog so it ranks high in search results for the search term “PRstore”
  • Educate our store owners about topics relevant to our clients and our day-to-day operations
  • Gather feedback from clients past and present, satisfied and dissatisfied
  • Gather feedback from our franchise owners and their employees
  • Get invited to speak at a forum on our industry

This is just a short list. What are your social media goals? Which have you achieved so far? Which do you need help with?

After all the talk of metrics at the last #btynbiz Twitter lunch, I was totally thinking of making a list like this. I need to know what my goals are, if I want to know what to measure…

Good Social Media To-Do list, Scott. There are a few I didn’t have on mine, until now. Thanks.

Hey Scott, wow, I thought I had a long to-do list! The nice thing about your list is it that it helps me and other lucky members of the PRstore ownership network accomplish more. I tend to focus on the face-to-face, or phone to phone, communication channels (being increasingly called “old school” by some I know), and having you as part of the team gives me confidence I to will become adept at all of this soon.

What can’t be denied is the growing importance of social media, and those who do refute it will find themselves in the company of those of ten years ago who didn’t think the internet would be an important business tool.

I remember consulting in the printing industry during that time and having owners tell me their customers didn’t want to communicate with them via e-mail, or the web. Well, they were wrong, and those that didn’t “believe” soon enough are now out of business.

Now back to my own to-do list..

Hey Scott, that’s quite the to-do list. I got your message on Twitter, and after reading this post, I think it’s a great list. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

I recently changed my mind about MyBlogLog – I think it’s still useful for certain things. Good luck!
